The home is situated on the site to accommodate the steep grade change of 60’ from the north east and the south west corner and maintain the current driveway location. The layout of the main level features the master bedroom, a generous living room, dining room and kitchen accessed from a two-car garage. A set of central stairs lead down to the day-lighted basement, with an entrainment room and two bedrooms. At the very top level of the house with sweeping views of the LaPlata Mountains is a Crow’s Nest which could function as the 4th bedroom, or home office.

True to the mountain contemporary style a combination of flat and shed style roofs stack and stagger vertically to create interest in the form of the residence. The height is the home is a total of 27’ from the main level at grade to the upper most point of the shed roof, and 37’-8” total from the floor of the day-lighted basement level. The exterior cladding references the natural context and includes horizontal composite wood singing and composite stone, as well as accents of exposed structural steel. The planting around the home will maintain much of the existing vegetation to be trimmed and maintained to the defensible wild fire safety standards. New landscape will be plated as accent on the east and south faces of the home consisting of local trees shrubs, and flowering perennials.
