Durango Fire and Rescue Station 2

Durango Fire Station No. 2 is a major new civic facility located along Camino del Rio, designed to replace an aging station with a building that reflects the scale, visibility, and importance of its role within the community. The two-story structure brings together emergency response, training, and living functions in a cohesive and highly considered design, creating a facility that supports both performance and daily life for on-duty crews. Interior spaces are organized to provide comfort, privacy, and recovery during 24-hour shifts, while maintaining a strong connection to the operational core of the building.

The architecture establishes a confident presence along one of Durango’s most prominent corridors, drawing from durable materials and a form that responds to the surrounding civic context, including the nearby Powerhouse Science Center. Thoughtful detailing and a clear organizational approach allow the building to function seamlessly while presenting a refined and lasting identity. As a long-term investment in public infrastructure, the project reflects Reynolds Ash + Associates’ ability to elevate essential facilities into meaningful civic architecture that serves both function and community.
