Durango Fire Station No. 3 is a 10,600-square-foot renovation and expansion that strengthens an existing facility to meet the demands of a growing service area along the Florida Road corridor. The project increases capacity to five apparatus bays while reorganizing the building to support efficient emergency response, training, and 24-hour occupancy for a seven-person crew. Living quarters, including sleeping rooms, kitchen, and shared spaces, are fully integrated into the station, allowing it to function as both workplace and residence. A community meeting space and outdoor gathering area extend the role of the station beyond operations, reinforcing its presence within the surrounding neighborhood. The architecture reflects this balance, combining durability and clarity of function with a more grounded, approachable scale that connects the building to its context.
